A Transparent Comparison Method
Understand The Formula Before The Percentage.
This Zodiac Compatibility Matrix uses a deliberately simple rule-based model. The main component is elemental compatibility, followed by a smaller modality adjustment. The formula is: Compatibility Index = Element Score + Modality Adjustment. The final result is limited to the 0–100 scale, although all valid combinations in this model already fall within that range.
Two different signs sharing an element receive a base score of 90. The same sign paired with itself receives 82, reflecting symbolic familiarity while allowing for possible duplication of habits. Complementary Fire–Air and Earth–Water combinations receive a base score of 85. All other cross-element combinations receive a base score of 52.
The modality adjustment is +1 when both signs share a modality and +1 when their modalities differ. In this version, that uniform adjustment is intentionally minimal, keeping the index principally elemental. Consequently, same-element combinations score 91, complementary elements score 86, and contrasting elements score 53, except certain traditional cardinal-versus-cardinal or fixed-versus-fixed contrasts, which are assigned 51 as an additional cautionary distinction.
For clarity, the interactive calculation applies the following final rules consistently: identical signs score 82; different signs sharing an element score 91; complementary elements score 86; and contrasting elements score either 51 or 53 according to whether both signs have the same modality. This is an editorial convention, not a standard formula recognized across all astrology schools.
Consider Aries and Leo. Both are Fire signs, so their elemental relationship receives the same-element score of 91. Taurus and Cancer represent Earth and Water, producing the complementary score of 86. Aries and Cancer represent contrasting Fire and Water signs with a shared cardinal modality, producing 51. These values explain the model rather than measuring the people involved.
The percentage cannot account for individual communication skills, shared values, cultural background, personal history, emotional maturity, or life circumstances. These factors are important to real relationships, regardless of astrology. A lower symbolic result should never outweigh respectful behavior, consent, trust, or evidence about a person's actions.
