How Is The Navamsa D9 Chart Calculator Formula Applied?
Each 30-degree zodiac sign is divided into nine segments. Because 30 ÷ 9 equals 3⅓ degrees, one Navamsa occupies exactly 3°20′. A position at 0°00′ within a sign belongs to its first Navamsa, while a position at 29°59′ belongs to its ninth.
The calculator first determines the D1 sign from the full sidereal longitude. It then finds the degree within that sign and identifies the zero-based Navamsa segment using the following formula:
Navamsa segment = floor((degrees within sign × 9) ÷ 30).
The segment ranges from zero through eight. Add one when displaying the conventional first-through-ninth division number. Exact boundaries belong to the segment beginning at that boundary, not the preceding segment.
To obtain the Navamsa degree within its new sign, multiply the original longitude's remainder within its 3°20′ segment by nine. This produces a D9 degree from 0° inclusive to 30° exclusive.
