Begin With The Progressed Sun And Moon.
The progressed Sun and Moon are often among the first placements examined in a secondary progressed chart. In astrological tradition, the Sun is associated with identity, purpose and long-term expression, while the Moon is linked to emotional rhythms, habits and changing needs.
The progressed Sun typically travels roughly one zodiac degree for each year of life, although its actual astronomical motion varies. This is why a change of progressed Sun sign may be treated as a significant transition spanning many years rather than a brief event.
The progressed Moon moves considerably faster, usually changing zodiac signs about every two to two and a half progression years. Its exact rate varies because the Moon's daily orbital motion is not constant. The full progressed lunar cycle is approximately 27 to 28 years, depending on what reference is used.
To estimate a progressed Moon position using this tool, obtain consecutive lunar longitudes around the actual progressed ephemeris moment and use the planetary position tab. For a precise position, consult an ephemeris directly at that time instead of relying on interpolation.
A Secondary Progressions Calculator is most useful when its numerical results are kept separate from the symbolic language applied afterward. A zodiac placement can be computed from astronomical data; claims about what that placement means for a specific person's future are interpretive.

Progressed Aspects Need Both Sets Of Positions.
Astrologers often compare progressed planets with natal planets. A progressed conjunction, square, trine or opposition is based on the angular separation of two accurately calculated zodiac longitudes. Small differences may matter when an aspect is close to an exact alignment.
Progressed-to-progressed aspects and progressed-to-natal aspects are different comparisons. Neither can be established by knowing only a progressed date, and both require consistent zodiac coordinates.
Progressed Angles Follow Different Conventions.
Progressing the Ascendant, Midheaven and house cusps is more complicated than advancing planetary ephemeris time. Methods such as the Naibod key or solar-arc-based angle progression may produce different results.
Because house calculations also require the original birth location and a house system, they should not be inferred from an ordinary planetary longitude interpolation. The Astrodienst chart-type overview explains important distinctions between progressed planetary positions and chart angles.
