Understand The Score Without Treating It As A Prediction.
The calculator assigns an illustrative score using two traditional zodiac categories: element and modality. Each sign belongs to one of four elements and one of three modalities. The result is a transparent classification rather than an empirical measurement.
The calculation begins with a base of 50 points. Matching elements add 30 points, while complementary elements add 22. Elemental combinations outside those categories add 8 points. Different modalities add 10 points, while matching modalities add 4.
The resulting range is 62–90 points. A larger number means the selected pairing fits more of the calculator's traditional harmony rules. It does not mean the relationship has that percentage chance of success.
For example, Aries and Leo share Fire but have different modalities. Their illustrative result is 90. Aries and Cancer have different, traditionally contrasting elements and share the cardinal modality, producing 62. Neither outcome measures the individuals' actual behavior or feelings.
Use the written interpretation as a conversation starter. If a result mentions independence, ask how each person handles personal space. If it mentions stability, discuss how routines and shared responsibilities work in practice.
The distinction between astronomy and astrology is also important. Encyclopaedia Britannica's overview of astrology provides historical context for the tradition. Modern scientific evidence does not establish zodiac signs as reliable predictors of personality or relationship outcomes.
Modalities Add Another Layer.
Cardinal signs—Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn—traditionally represent initiation. Fixed signs—Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius—represent persistence. Mutable signs—Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces—represent adaptation. The calculator treats different modalities as potentially complementary, without claiming that one arrangement is objectively superior.
Other Chart Placements Change The Interpretation.
Traditional relationship astrology also examines the Moon for emotional symbolism, Mercury for communication, Venus for affection, and Mars for motivation. A synastry chart comparison explores multiple placements rather than relying exclusively on Sun signs. Precise chart calculations may require birth dates, times, and locations.
Real Compatibility Is More Than Symbolism.
Shared goals, mutual respect, emotional safety, communication, and conflict resolution cannot be inferred from birthdays. Someone with a supposedly difficult zodiac match may be an excellent partner. Treat astrological descriptions as optional reflection prompts rather than evidence about someone's character.
